Alice & the Erotic Mistreatment of Her Toys

Dolly takes revenge and Alice suffers a reversal which is demonstrated by the wonky word balloon - whacky stuff for 1951 and a great opportunity to catch a glimpse of Alice's oft seen knickers - phwoar!

Another great panel from Alice #11 (1951) published by Approved Comics (Ziff-Davis). The previous panel is right here.

Don't Listen Hoppy!

The lady bunny has succumbed to xenophobia - not all these foreign invaders are bad as Hoppy the Marvel Bunny reasonably suggests. They're just misunderstood - they have different traditions - strange customs - they won't let their women go to school! Hmm! Okay so they're bad - let's kill 'em.

This patriotic and timely message was brought to you by Funny Animals #9 (1943) and those good people at Fawcett.

Two posts today - I forgot yesterday!

Stand By Your Bunks!!!

I don't know about you but I'd play ping pong with any of these gals - especially the redhead with the freckles! I just love trouble! I think the harlot in bed is givin' her the eye though, so maybe she bats for the other side. I'm not complaining - it don't change my plans none.

This is too much femininity for one panel but it comes courtesy of Exotic Romances #23 (Formerly True War Romances) from Quality c.1955

Seaman Suffers Loss of Pipe!

Yeah - she says that now! When you don't get that promotion to Captain you'll see she's not called Mona for nothing! After that it'll be Admiral - there's no pleasing some women. I should know - I've never pleased one yet!

This steamy panel from Hearthrobs #1 (1949) from Quality.

¡Ay, caramba!

Dolores has just given her companion a tooth-loosening slap so we can tell she's in no mood for trespassers! And that riding crop looks like a pretty mean weapon to me! I wouldn't like to be on the wrong end of that ... or maybe I would!

This panel from the story Rancho of Golden Dreams by Auguste Martinez from Cowgirl Romances #2 (1950) published by Fiction House.

I'd Buy That For A Dollar!!

That's right! What happened to comic book covers? When did they become so sophisticated that we can afford to ignore them? Well, obviously there's a nostalgia element to the one above, but still I'D BUY IT and I don't even buy comics anymore!

This cover detail from Daring Love #1 (1953) from Gillmor Magazines (Key).

Just When You Thought It Was Safe ...

Peculiar in a sense but quite brilliant too. Top notch draftsmanship and wildly creative brilliance from A.M. (August) Froehlich on this Race Wilkins strip. I've nabbed this from Meteor Comics #1 but I suspect it may be a reprint of some sort. Nearly every other panel in the strip is a absolute gem - adult comics from the golden age - this is what I live for.

Hmmm. It seems this might not be Croyden after all but Rural Home and there seems to be only a couple of issues that feature Race Wilkins and therefore maybe only a very few (two or three) actual stories - if that. Which is the greatest shame - because this is really really good.

A Perfectly Reasonable Explanation!

That's a perfectly reasonable origin - I have no problem with it - do you? Happens all the time - elaborately named wax figures embuing passing strangers with magical powers and causing them to take up unlikely names and fancy dress while ignoring the come-hither looks from their alternatively sexed partners!

See yesterday for the details and the previous panel - two great panels in a row - who'da thunk it!
